MODERN TRENDS

IMPRESSIONISM, CUBISM, FUTURISM, CUBO-FUTURISM, SUPREMATISM, CONSTRUCTIVISM

INTRODUCTION

MODERN TRENDS is devoted to the Russian Avant-Garde and its stylistic developments from c. 1910 to 1930. The origin of these trends is in French Impressionism, Parisian Cubism, and Italian Futurism, the artists then moving on to the non-objective art of Suprematism and Constructivism.

There are sections on each of these trends made up of articles inspired by artists and by works of art, with the aim of building a history suitable for students and lecturers, collectors, artists and the wider general public. The articles will be posted as new material becomes available, so they are both eclectic but also coherent. This is a mini-website in the making.

There is complementary material on artists’ groups, exhibitions, biographies, on www.incorm.org.

N.B. All paintings published for the first time here have thorough scientific analyses by known, experienced and reputable chemists and scientists.
